United Way Branding

My senior branding class got the opportunity to, each individually, design a logo for a youth mental health crisis center partnered with the United Way. The client had asked for a logo that felt new and non-institutional. She was concerned about the stigma of mental health being present within the logo and wanted everything to reflect a welcoming, safe environment. 

I was inspired by the description of a safe, supportive environment. The softer edges and “hand-done” feeling of this logo are designed to be approachable, give a gentle ambiance, and create a sense of safety and peace. The bird is a common symbol of freedom, peace, and happiness. This symbol, along with the nest, is an engaging and supportive message that is immediately understood.
